The Story: The Brave Little Hedgehog 🦔
One morning, a little hedgehog named Pip went out to look for breakfast.
Pip was small and slow. He had tiny legs and a round, spiky body. But Pip had a kind heart.
He looked under the big oak tree. No food there. He looked near the old stone wall. Nothing.
Then Pip heard a soft sound. "Squeak! Squeak!"
It was a baby mouse. She was sitting by a hole in the ground.
"Are you okay?" asked Pip.
"My home is broken," said the little mouse. "The rain came last night. My house fell down!"
Pip thought hard. "You can live with me," he said. "My home is on the hill. It is small, but it is dry and warm."
The little mouse smiled. "Thank you, Pip!"
Pip helped the mouse carry her things. They walked up the hill together. It took a long time. Pip was slow, but he did not stop.
When they got to Pip's home, the little mouse looked around. It was a cozy little cave under a big rock.
"This is a lovely home," said the mouse.
That night, the mouse told Pip stories about the forest. Pip told the mouse stories about the stars. They were good friends.
The next day, the rain stopped. The sun came out. The little mouse went back to fix her home. But she came back every day to see Pip.
Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is simply help someone in need. You do not need to be big or fast. You just need to be kind.
