🦋 佳佳的英语绘本 · 第5期：The Butterfly Effect

Deep in the emerald rainforest, a tiny caterpillar named Emil was crawling along a jungle leaf. "How can I ever become beautiful?" Emil wondered. "I'm just a tiny, ugly worm."

An old parrot named Polly flew down. "Don't worry, little one. Every great transformation begins with a single step — or in your case, a single bite."

Every day, Emil took one small bite of leaf after another. Slowly but surely, he grew bigger and stronger. He built a small chrysalis and waited patiently inside for many days.

Then one magical morning, Emil emerged from the chrysalis. He had magnificent wings — shimmering shades of green and gold, with delicate patterns like stained glass windows.

"I... I am beautiful!" Emil gasped in wonder.

He opened his wings wide and soared up into the canopy, leaving a trail of glittering dust behind him.

Below, a young girl looked up in amazement. "Wow! Look at that butterfly!"

And she was right. Emil's wings spread wide — wider than any butterfly before. And somewhere far away, a single flower opened a little bit wider because Emil's wings had brushed the air.

A single small act of beauty — can create ripples across the entire world.

蝴蝶效应

在苍翠的热带雨林深处，一只名叫Emil的毛毛虫正沿着宽大的丛林叶片慢慢爬行。"我怎么可能变漂亮呢？"Emil想。"我只是一条小小的、丑丑的虫子。"

一只名叫Polly的老鹦鹉飞下来。"别担心，小家伙。每一次伟大的蜕变都始于一步——或者说，以你的情况，始于一口。"

每天，Emil一口一口地吃着树叶。慢慢地，他越长越大、越强壮。它给自己织了一个蛹，在里面耐心地等待了好多天。

然后在一个神奇的早晨，Emil从蛹里钻了出来。它有了壮丽的翅膀——闪烁着绿色和金色的光泽，有着像彩色玻璃窗一样精致的图案。

"我……我好美啊！"Emil惊叹道。

它大大地张开翅膀，飞向树冠层，身后留下一串闪光的粉尘。

下面，一个小女孩惊叹地抬头望去。"哇！看那只蝴蝶！"

她说得对。Emil的翅膀展开来——比之前任何一只蝴蝶都宽。而在很远的地方，一朵花因为Emil翅膀拂过的空气而开得更大了一点。

一个微小的善举或美丽，可以在整个世界泛起涟漪。
